Internationally Authoritative Certification! WBTL EMB Secures TÜV NORD Functional Safety ASIL-D Rating

Release time:2026-03-26 16:52:49 Access times:5

On March 17, 2026, WBTL’s EMB system officially passed the rigorous assessment by TÜV NORD (German Technical Inspection Association), an internationally authoritative certification body, and was granted the ASIL-D certification – the highest level of automotive functional safety. This is the world’s first EMB functional safety product certification issued by TÜV.

1

Earning the top-tier ASIL-D safety certification from TÜV NORD stands as WBTL’s solemn commitment to customers and the market. Having undergone the stringent scrutiny of an internationally authoritative third-party organization, WBTL has proven to automakers and end consumers that its EMB system not only leads the industry in mass production progress but also reaches an impeccable international standard in safety performance. This milestone will effectively help automakers build market credibility and boost end-market confidence in EMB technology.

As a cutting-edge technology in the global automotive braking industry, EMB completely abandons traditional brake master cylinders, hydraulic pipelines and brake fluid. Adopting a fully electronic control architecture, it directly controls vehicle braking through electrical signals, redefining the future development of automotive braking systems. For consumers, the changes brought by this technology are highly intuitive:

• Faster Response, Smarter Advanced Driver Assistance Systems: The response time of EMB is reduced by approximately 67% compared with traditional hydraulic braking systems, delivering far more agile braking. This enables more decisive execution of intelligent driving functions such as Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), with shorter braking distances.

• More Precise Control, Smoother Braking: EMB independently regulates the braking force of each wheel, achieving finer dynamic adjustment on rain-soaked, snow-slick roads or during emergency obstacle avoidance. It effectively prevents vehicle instability and ensures stable handling even under complex road conditions.

• Higher Safety & Ample Redundancy: The four wheels operate independently yet back each other up. If a single wheel’s braking system fails, the remaining three wheels can still work in coordination to guarantee smooth vehicle deceleration or stopping, with no compromise to driving experience.

• Greater Energy Efficiency & Easier Maintenance: By eliminating all hydraulic mechanisms, EMB achieves zero drag torque, helping to extend the cruising range of electric vehicles. Moreover, the removal of brake fluid eliminates the need for regular brake fluid replacement, making the system more environmentally friendly.

• More Compact Structure & Flexible Space: Removing bulky hydraulic pipelines and brake master cylinders results in a more streamlined chassis layout. The freed-up space can be used to create a more spacious cabin or a more comfortable seating arrangement, directly benefiting drivers and passengers.

Nevertheless, as a critical safety component, EMB features a highly complex electrical and electronic architecture. Its safety is directly tied to the security of the entire vehicle and occupants, posing unprecedented challenges to functional safety design. WBTL has implemented a full-chain control system covering system architecture, hardware design, software development, control circuits and testing & verification, fully complying with the highest safety requirements of the ISO 26262 standard. Through the standardized assessment of an independent third party, the product is ensured to deliver safe responses under various fault scenarios. Attaining the TÜV NORD ASIL-D certification not only represents high recognition of WBTL’s technical capabilities but also affirms the company’s long-term investment and perseverance in the safety field – upholding the most stringent standards to safeguard every journey.

As the industry’s first supplier to obtain the ASIL-D certification (the highest functional safety level for EMB systems), WBTL feels deeply honored and fully aware of its heavy responsibility. Taking this achievement as a new starting point, the company will continue to uphold the R&D philosophy of safety first, and with the mission of "Sustained Innovation, Customer Success", provide global customers with safer, more efficient and reliable intelligent braking solutions.
